A Moment of Contemplation

When was the last time you paused for a moment, in the middle of your ordinary life, to wonder about the existence of something greater than yourself- a purpose or truth? Perhaps you suddenly thought, Does God really hear my prayers? or, What purpose does suffering on this Earth serve? or, Lord, how should I understand the essence of your nature? Have you ever wondered where in this huge cosmic planet your actions have a place?

If I may suggest the following prayer… you can substitute the word God for whaterver you wish if it helps you to hear your soul.

God had no body now on earth but yours,
No hands but yours,
No feet but yours,
Yours are the eyes through which he is to look out
God’s compassion to the world;
Yours are the feet with which he is to go about
Doing good:
Your are the hands with which he is to bless men now.
